WARNING!!!

After 2 hours in line at the DMV, Tyler walked out with his driver's permit! He is already 16 but has been dragging his feet about getting his permit! He is accustomed to having his own personal chauffeur (me) and was quite comfortable with that lifestyle. Although when we got to the car he did ask to drive home. I have already told him that he will not be driving until he has driven with my dad (who is a former driver's ed teacher). Tyler will be spending this next week in Hawaii with his friend Brad (and family), and will be ready for driving lessons when he returns! Look out world!!! Get ready GPA!!!

HAPPY FATHER'S DAY!!!

Today for Father's Day we went to my parent's house for some "snackage" and some family time. My brother Mark and his family are out of town on vacation, so we did not officially celebrate-but we did go to my parent's house. This is my boys with my dad-"GPA" Clyde. Tyler has started calling him G-PA for some reason. I don't try to understand his teenage reasoning anymore...so I just go with the flow and "GPA" it is...

After my parent's house we went to James' Aunt Ann and Uncle Mike's house. Here are my 3 boys with James' dad "Grandpa Greg". Cousin Paul was at the BBQ and did a fine job as usual.
It was a great day!

We will be celebrating with my whole family in a couple of weeks when every one is back in town!

Marimbas!!!

I tried once again to get some marimba video on the blog. I have tried in the past using my video camera discs but have been unable to get it to work. I even had my sister-in-law Gwen (who regularly uses computers) try and NO LUCK! This time I recorded on my regular picture taking camera and though the quality isn't good I got a little recorded! I hope you enjoy it as much as I do! Grandpa Clyde even has some of Justin's playing as a ringtone on his phone!

Happy Listening!!!

Turn off the music that is playing already, in the green box on the right side of the blog!

Final Marimba Performance

Today at the end of the year assembly the marimbas group played. They did a wonderful job as usual.

This was Justin's final performance! You are only able to take the marimba class 2 years and this was his second year!

Justin really enjoyed the class and the teacher Mrs. Schmidt. I think I may have enjoyed listening to them more than they enjoyed playing...I am going to miss it...maybe more than Justin!

Wind, Rain and yes, SNOW on June 6th!!!

Today I went on a field trip with Justin's class to Mt. Saint Helens! We left school early (7:45am) and returned late (6:10pm). I was one of the lucky ones that got to drive my car. We took a school bus and 4 private vehicles. It was a short 263 miles round trip! Here Justin is at our 2nd stop...the Weyerhauser Forest Learning center. We hiked in the rain and wind to a lookout to see Elk herds. But NO LUCK! The ranger said the weather was too bad and they were not out. The valley behind Justin was over 100 feet deeper before the eruption left its mudflow and debris here!

Here Justin and Casey are filling out their assignments that they had to do at each stop. Not all fun and games!

Posing for a class picture at the top! At the Johnston Ridge Observatory...SNOW!!! And it was SNOWING! In June!!!

As soon as they got out of the car the snow ball fight began! They were all soaked to the skin!

More fun in the snow!

Finished off the trip with a stop at Burger King! Mac, Justin, Casey and Brandon model their crowns!

Budding Artist

Friday night was the Spring Art Show at Mount Rainier Lutheran High School. Tyler had 2 pieces featured in the show. Tyler has really shown some creative abilities this past year in art.

I think it helps that he really likes his art teacher. Mr. Scearce is extremely creative and is able to "pull" creativity out of these 10th graders! Tyler looks forward to Art3 next year! Yeah!!! That means more pieces to add to my collection! When he brings these home I will have to photograph my whole collection and post the picture!
