Lake Retreat Family Camp 2009

Our family has carried on the tradition that my parents started when I was young of going to Family Camp at Lake Retreat every summer.


Tyler, Thad and Justin- they see each other only about 2 times a year, but as soon as they get together it is like they haven't spent any time apart!

Happy New Year!

The P-D family's new year's eve tradition is to stay home and make homemade pizzas. Everyone makes their own with whatever they want on it. Justin shows us his technique for rolling out the dough.

Tis the Season...

It would not be Christmas at our house without Tyler's nutcracker collection. When Tyler was very young my dad, Gpa, took Tyler to the Nutcracker ballet. He loved it! Gpa got him his first nutcracker and even got his name painted on it. From then on Tyler has gone to some production with Gpa every Christmas season. Tyler has also added a nutcracker to his collection every year. He has quite a variety: ranging from the usual looking to Darth Vader (on the left- too dark to really see him) and Homer Simpson, a snowman, santa and a Hawaiian Hula dancer.

Welcome Back to School...Day 2

Justin started his 8th grade year at Concordia Lutheran School yesterday. This will be his last year here and then he will be off to join Ty at the high school.


Ty started his 11th grade year at Mount Rainier Lutheran High School yesterday. Hard to believe that only 2 more years and he will be off to college.

These pictures were taken this morning (2nd day of school). I took pictures yesterday morning (1st day) but I hadn't put the scan disk back into the camera so the pictures I took are stored on the internal memory of the camera. I don't know where the cord is to connect the camera to the computer so that I can retrieve the pictures...

2nd Annual Miller-Brewer-Duras Anderson Island Golf Tournament

Sunday we hosted the 2nd annual Miller-Brewer-Duras Anderson Island Tournament. My parents have a home on Anderson Island on the 7th fairway of the golf course. Last summer we had an impromptu get together with the Duras family and the Brewer family and us. We had so much fun we decided to make it an annual event. Here is Uncle Mike putting on the 6th hole.

Josh, Tyler, James, John and Jordan enjoy the picnic BBQ lunch/dinner. It was a great day and we are all looking forward to the 3rd annual tournament next summer.

Family Camp 2008

Justin played in a pickleball tournament. He took 3rd place. He took 1st place in the mini-golf and in the 3-on-3 basketball tournaments.

Tommy (our neighbor who came with us) challenges Rick to solve the Rubix Cube in the "North American Idol" talent show. Tommy easily solved it in less than 2 minutes this time!

Justin, Tommy, Thad and Tyler enjoy one of the great meals we had this year. The food was very good considering it was "camp food".

It was a great week at camp. It is so good to see old friends every year and to just pick up where you left off last summer. It really is like one great big family. Watching the kids grow up year to year and sharing in every one's joys and sorrows. I think it gives us a glimpse of what heaven will be like... Anyone who would be interested in joining us next year, just let us know we would be happy to get you the information. Hurry though...camp fills up fast!!!
