Indoor Soccer

Tyler is playing indoor soccer with a group of guys from MRLH.

Fun times...

I think if his games were outside that it would be warmer. It is so cold in there I have to wear my winter jacket, gloves and I have my blanket.

Good thing these guys play for the "love of the game"...they are good sports and are having fun!

Final Games of the Season for Hawks and Warriors!

Yesterday was the final game of the season for Justin (Warriors) and Tyler (Hawks). Justin's game was at 3:45 at Concordia. They won the game bringing their undefeated season to a close.
Tyler's last game was against his parent's alma mater TBS at 4:00. My good friend from high school (at TBS) Shannon came to the game. This was the first time I got to see her son Ryan. He is a beautiful boy! It was so good to see them both!
Both of the boys had fun this season and are looking forward to next season...not as much as I am though: both my boys will be on the SAME soccer team!!! Get ready Coach "K"!

Warrior Soccer???

This year the league that Concordia is in decided to go to flag football instead of soccer. One team that they played in soccer last year is still doing soccer and called CLS to set up a game even though we do not have a team.

Mr. Dressler (football coach) agreed to the game and opened it up to the girls as well.

The Warriors won the game 8-2. this was exceptional considering they had NO practices! Well done Warriors!

Hawks Fight On!

Look at Tyler move! He went into the game about 10 minutes into the 1st half and played until half time. He did really well!

He has really improved this year and looks forward to the last 3 games of the year.

Half time chat.

GO HAWKS!

This is what I saw when I pulled up the MRLH student announcement page on the website today (among other things)...

"An intense game from the new MRLH soccer team occurred yesterday at Concordia. The hawks took 12 shots on goal, but just couldn't find the back of the net. In the end, the Hawks fell 1-0 in overtime to league-leading Puget Sound Adventist. Come see the NEW Hawks this Friday, against Pagdilao-Duras rivals Tacoma Baptist. Home at Concordia, 4 pm."

Tyler has apparently been spreading the word that his parents are TBS alumni.

GO RAINBOWS!

James cousin Gina is the assistant coach for the University of Hawaii's women's soccer team...the Rainbows. They were in town this past weekend to play UW's women. We all went to the game and Tyler brought his friend Daniel. They play together on the MRLH soccer team.

Justin and James...

Tyler and Holly...

This is the whole gang that came to watch and cheer on the "Bows" and Gina!!! Gina is kneeling in the front row with the dark shirt and green shorts.

On the ride home Justin fell asleep. So precious when they sleep!

Tyler made me post this picture of my sunburn. It is almost October...so I was not even thinking about the sun! (Sorry I don't know how to turn the picture.) The rest of my family with the Hawaiian blood had no trouble with the sun- they just get nice and dark!

HAWKS SOAR TO VICTORY!

Today the Hawks were cheered on to victory by Lila! (also Auntie Jen, Uncle Tim and Evan). It was another beautiful day for an outdoor game.

The Hawks played a great game and came out victorious over Grace Academy. It was a long awaited win and we look forward to another soon!

Hawks Soccer!

Tyler in action! It is easy to find him on the field...just look for the flying mop of hair!

Tyler always gives his all when he is on the field!

Another disappointing loss, but our Hawks always show good sportsmanship that we can be proud of!

He Can Play!!!

Tyler was released by the doctor to play soccer. There is a game tonight so he had to dress up for school. This is one of the new shirts and ties that Tyler picked out on Sunday. His dress clothes selection was looking pretty bad so we shopped after church.

Justin also looked especially nice today-picture day! SMILE!

1st Soccer Game of the Season

Today was the first soccer game for MRLH Hawks! Tyler is still on the injured list and is not able to play (which is ok for me on this game which was in Mount Vernon and I really didn't want to drive all the way up there). Technically injured players are not allowed to go to away games with the team, but his coach asked us if he could go along acting as a manager for today's game. That way he would be able to go with the team and be at the game as well as filling the manager role that they have not filled yet. Ty was happy and willing to fill in where needed. He is chomping at the bit to get back on the soccer field but still has alot of pain in his toe. Next Tuesday he goes back to the doctor for reevaluation.

Just a little bump in the road...

Tyler has started soccer season this last week with 2-a-day practices. On Thursday he started to complain that his toe hurt and it had started swelling. He did not want to go to the doctor, just wanted to keep playing soccer. Play through the pain. Well, as of this morning it had not gotten any better and I insisted that he go to the doctor. The report: a fractured toe with concern about the whole foot. He had xrays taken and we will find out the results of them tomorrow. No soccer for 2 weeks! Please pray that his toe will heal quickly. He loves soccer and it is killing him to have to go to practice and just watch!

Here it is...

The jacket we have all been waiting for has arrived!!! Doesn't it look great?
(Note the "priceless" smile!)

That's ALOT of last name...at least its spelled correctly!

Monday, March 31, 2008

Gallon of gas to get there: $3.25- Lunch on the way: $19.00- Letterman's jacket with everything on it: $555.00- Smile on his face leaving: PRICELESS!!

Today Tyler ordered his Letterman's Jacket! He had money in the bank as well as 2 gift certificates and had more than enough to cover his jacket cost. (I was a little worried!) He was able to get all the patches he wanted and even after the $25 extra charge for having a last name over 12 letters, he was able to get an additional "coach's award" patch for receiving the award his freshman year in soccer! He was happy with the whole experience and I will be sure to post a picture when the jacket arrives! (in 4 weeks).

Hawks Fall Sports Awards Night

Thursday night we attended the Hawks sports awards. (Tyler is pictured with Coach Kirchenberg). Although the team didn't have any wins this season, they improved dramatically. At the beginning of the season they were losing by 7,8,9 points. The end of the season brought losses of only 2 or 3. This was a great season of growth for the team and we look forward to next year.

Correction: Warriors Semi-undefeated...

The Warriors had a kids vs. the parents game to finish off the season. James was able to get off work early and was able to play with Justin. The parents won the game! I don't know how that happened...a bunch of old folks who haven't played in years beat an undefeated team...the kids must have felt sorry for them and played easy. It was a fun game and the kids tried out different positions than they normally play. Justin got to try his hand at goalie. I think he realized he is just too short!

Warriors Finish Undefeated!

The Concordia Warriors finished their season UNDEFEATED!!! This team really played well together and played as a TEAM! James and Max (our Yellow Lab) watch the last game. max was not happy being on the sidelines! He wanted to be out on the field running alongside Justin! The coach was excellent, always very positive and really was able to get the players to play well together. We have been blessed to have EXCELLENT coaches for both of our boys soccer teams! WE LOVE OUR WARRIORS!

A Hawk in Flight!

Tyler (#24) in action!!! Mr. Scearce, the art teacher at MRLH, takes the soccer pictures during the season. He took this picture at the last game...WOW!!! Look at Tyler in motion! Unfortunately it was another loss, but WE SCORED!!! That goal was as good as a win to the parents gathered on the sidelines to cheer on our Hawks! We love our team!!

Hawks Never Give Up!!!

The MRLHS Hawks had another game today! It was up in Kirkland, which is where our cousin Calle lives. He came to watch the game with us and then we went out to PIZZA!!! Sadly, it was another loss for the Hawks, but it was a much closer and better played game than any other! We won't give up on our Hawks and know that they will come up with a win any time now!!!
